SYCAA Cross Country 2012
Those of you who regularly run cross-country will know that this is the time of year when the rain stops and you can run over the ground without getting your feet wet. At least, that has (mostly) been the experience of the last few years.
The Up and Running South Yorkshire League
Up and Running are again sponsoring the League and we are very grateful to them for their support. As usual, there are 4 league fixtures, with the final one also being the Championships. Entry for all 4 events is £6, which covers all four fixtures and numbers will be with Club Secretaries mid September. One venue which will be new to most people, but which was a regular in the dim and distant past (when I were a lad) is High Melton College. We are reusing two of last year's venues: Wentworth Castle, so you get a chance to actually see the courses this year (hopefully) and Mount St Mary College, who offered to stage our championships after last year's league fixture there. As I write this, I am waiting for the new school term to begin so that I can confirm Winter Hill as the venue for the third fixture. The dates and venues for the League are:
Sunday 21 October High Melton College, Doncaster
Sunday 11 November Wentworth Castle, Barnsley
Sunday 25 November Winter Hill, Kimberworth (tbc)
Sunday 9 December Mount St Mary College, Spinkhill
The SYCAA XC Championships: 9 December
The usual reminder about the order of events being reversed at the Championships, with senior events taking place at the start of the programme. The other fixtures start with Under 11s.
Northern XC Relays (incorporating the SYCAA Relay Champs) 6 October
The staging of the Northern Relay Championships is again taking place at Graves Park and will incorporate the SYCAA championships. Medals will be awarded to the first 3 South Yorkshire club teams in every age group, and the U11 events are open ONLY to South Yorkshire clubs. All entries via the Northern Athletics website. Information and entry forms should be available on the NoE website by the end of August. Please do you best to support this event - it is a great way to get club members into cross country.
