SYCAA Cross Country 2017
The Up and Running South Yorkshire League
The pattern of fixtures follows the pattern set last year. There are two fixtures in October, one in November and one in December. Up and Running are again sponsoring the League and we are very grateful to them for their support. As usual, there are 4 league fixtures, with the final one also being the Championships. Purchase of a number is through your club and the cost of a number covers all four fixtures. Numbers will be with Club Secretaries mid September. The dates and venues for the League are:
Sunday 15 October Longley Park, Sheffield
Sunday 29 October Winterhill, Kimberworth
Sunday 19 November Penistone Showground
Sunday 17 December Kiveton Community Woodland
A big thank you to all clubs hosting events: City of Sheffield & Dearne, Kimberworth Striders and AC, Penistone Footpath Runners & AC and Rotherham Harriers and AC.
The SYCAA XC Championships: 17 December
NB: This date is a week later than that advertised in early versions of the season calendar.
Senior races take place at the start of the programme for this event. Junior races follow, with the first junior race being the U15 Boys. The timetable can be found under the Championships tab. The other fixtures start with Under 11s and the senior races come at the end of the programme.
FV65 Age Group
Starting this year there will be a separate FV65 age group. Athletes in this age group will compete in the Over 17 Ladies event and run the same distance. There will be League and Championship awards for this age group.
Divisions, Promotion and Relegation
A reminder that Clubs will be competing for separate Junior and Senior trophies based on their performance over the season and the divisions and their promotion and relegation issues will only relate to senior/vet runners. The Juniors will have just the one division. (see under the 'Divisions' tab).
Northern XC Relays (incorporating the SYCAA Relay Champs) 21 October
The staging of the Northern Relay Championships is again taking place at Graves Park and will incorporate the SYCAA championships. Medals will be awarded to the first 3 South Yorkshire teams* in every age group, and the U11 events are open ONLY to South Yorkshire clubs. All entries via the Northern Athletics website. Information and entry forms are available available on the Northern Athletics website. Please do you best to support this event - it is a great way to get club members into cross country.
* i.e. it is possible for one club to win more than one set of medals.
