League scoring System

Rules

1. Each club has only one team per age group which scores.

2. A full team is made up of 4 runners, apart from the jnr/snr/vet men category, in which 6 runners count.

3. A full team always beats a part team, so, for example, a senior men's team of 6 always beats a team with 5 runners; a team of 5 always beats a team with 4, and so on to the last scoring team, which probably has a single low-finishing runner.

4. All full teams score an additional point over incomplete teams.

5. Senior teams include junior, senior and vet runners, but V65 men score separately.

Scoring procedure

a. The scores of all the counters in an event (e.g. U15 girls) are added up and the runners ranked in decresing order of scorers, (6 down to 1 for jnr/snr/vet men and 4 down to 1 for the rest).

b. If two teams have the same number of points, the team with the highest placed LAST counter beats the other team.

c. The last team in the age group (usually only one scorer) gets 1 point.  The next to last gets 2, and so on until the first COMPLETE team is reached.  This team and all other complete teams get an extra point. In most cases this means that the top team gets one more point than the number of teams.

d. All the team scores for each club are added together to get the club's score for the fixture.

e. The club scores for the 4 fixtures are added together to get the club's total score for the whole season.
