Up and Running

SYCAA XC League 2017

Runners in junior age groups (U11, U13, U15, U17) will gain points which will count towards the Junior Championship, with a trophy for the club with the highest number of points.

Points gained for their club by senior/vet runners over the season, will determine the Division champions and the promotion and relegation issues. Junior points will NOT be added to a club's senior points score to decide these issues. There is a trophy at the end of the season for the highest scoring team in each Division.

League scoring System (Seniors)

Rules

1. Each club has only one team per age group which scores.

2. A full team is made up of 4 runners, apart from the jnr/snr/vet men category, in which 6 runners count.

3. A full team always beats a part team, so, for example, a senior men's team of 6 always beats a team with 5 runners; a team of 5 always beats a team with 4, and so on to the last scoring team, which probably has a single low-finishing runner.

4. All full teams score an additional point over incomplete teams.

5. Senior teams include U20, senior and vet runners, but V65 men score separately.

Scoring procedure

a. The scores of all the counters in each of the senior/vet races  are added up and the runners ranked in decreasing order of scorers, (6 down to 1 for jnr/snr/vet men and 4 down to 1 for the jnr/snr/vet women).

b. If two teams have the same number of points, the team with the highest placed LAST counter beats the other team.

c. The last team in the age group (usually only one scorer) gets 1 point.  The next to last gets 2, and so on until the first COMPLETE team is reached.  This team and all other complete teams get an extra point. In most cases this means that the top team gets one more point than the number of teams.

d. All the team scores for each club are added together to get the club's score for the fixture.

e. The club scores for the 4 fixtures are added together to get the club's total score for the whole season.

f. The points determine the promotion and relegation issues between divisions.
